AceShowbiz - Picking an early date to exclusively screen "Sweeney Todd", DreamWorks SKG and Warner Bros. Pictures held a starry premiere for the musical thriller Monday, December 3, 2007 at Ziegfeld Theater in New York City.

Spotlight obviously was directed to the movie's cast members who cheerfully walked their way down the red carpet prior to the screening. Besides leading star Johnny Depp, the pack included Alan Rickman, Sacha Baron Cohen, Laura Michelle Kelly, and newcomer Jayne Wisener, who plays Johanna, the only daughter of the titular serial killer.

Director Tim Burton was also spotted to attend the event and so did composer Stephen Sondheim, the creative mind behind the original Broadway musical from which the flick is adapted. Joined them were a number of VIP guests, like Amy Lee of Evanescence, actress Joan Allen, new Spock Zachary Quinto, and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who portrayed the father of Depp's iconic character Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End", among others.

The lavish affair, however, missed one principal name, none other than Helena Bonham Carter. A longtime fiancee of Burton, the actress was reported to be in England awaiting the birth of their second baby, expected to be due this month.
