Patric Dempsey has been signed as the new face of Versace for its upcoming men's spring/summer line.

AceShowbiz - Patrick Dempsey, who's familiar among TV viewers for his role as neurosurgeon Dr. Derek Shepherd (Dr. McDreamy) on the medical drama "Grey's Anatomy", has been signed as the new face of fashion house Versace.

The actor will front the company's 2008 men's spring/summer line. He was photographed for the ad campaign in November by renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino.

Considered Dempsey as the perfect choice to represent the popular men's fashion line, famous Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace who's the Vice-President of the Versace Group and Chief Designer of the fashion line commented, "Patrick represents everything that is great about this collection - he has that confidence, he is completely comfortable in his own skin, which is so attractive. He is the modern man of today and of course looks fantastic in the clothes."

As of Dempsey himself, he said he "was thrilled to be asked to be the face of the Versace Men's campaign" adding that "It was so lovely to work with Donatella Versace, she is an iconic and inspirational woman and a wonderful person, not to mention what a pleasure it was to work with Mario Testino too, one of the world's finest photographers."

The Versace print ads featuring Dempsey will begin circulating in magazines by February next year.

Dempsey is the next after actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers to have modeled for Versace. Meyers served as the face of Versace for their spring/summer 2007 line.

As of his acting career, Dempsey currently stars in the Disney film "Enchanted," which holds the number one spot at the U.S. box office for two weeks in a row since its November 21st debut.
