Avril Lavigne has snatched two trophies at the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards that was held last night (November 1). Lavigne, who also performed at the event, beat big contenders such as Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
The 'Girlfriend' singer won Most Addictive Track and Solo Artist of 2007. Her winning is seconded by rock band Muse that took Best Headliner and Best Ireland and U.K. Act.
Fellow Canadian Nelly Furtado also walked away with a prize through her latest effort, 'Loose'. The album was hailed as Album of the Year before Linkin Park was crowned Band of the Year.
In what came as a surprise, Kanye West who failed to grab a statuette at this year's MTV Video Music Award, had to suffer another loss when French duo Justice seized Video Star Prize for 'D.A.N.C.E'. Justice also earned Best French Act to top their winning.
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse who is barred from entering U.S. went home with Artists' Choice. The title Rock Out was given to Jared Leto-fronted band 30 Seconds to Mars while Ultimate Urban was handed to 'Umbrella' crooner, Rihanna. Of all the European acts German rock band Tokio Hotel was named International Act.
The event, that was held in Munich, German, was hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg and featured stage performances by Babyshambles and Foo Fighters who dedicated it to Sex Pistols.
