Tired of too polished music, Goo Goo Dolls is taking in producers that can bring out the rawness of playing live to their new studio album.

AceShowbiz - Goo Goo Dolls want more "muscle" in their next record. The rock band - that will release the first volume of their greatest hits compilation on November 13 - said that there will be a work with new producers who will give their upcoming album the energy of playing live.
"I want the next record to have a little more of an edge on it," frontman John Rzeznik told Billboard.com. "I don't want the rough edges taken off so much. The band's gonna play live on it more, not so many overdubs. I want it to sound more like we do live. It's a lot more energy. It's a more aggressive sound."
Some listed producers in their scheme include Gil Norton (Foo Fighters), Tim Palmer (The Cure) and Rich Costey (Audioslave). "We've learned so much from so many great people, working with Rob Cavallo and Glen Ballard, Jack Joseph Puig and all those guys," Rzeznik added.
"I just think sometimes the albums may be a little too polished. I don't want to give you the idea I'm about to make a metal record or something; I still want to have good songwriting on the record, but I want some more muscle this time, too."
The band will enter the studio in New York in January. Rzeznik who has "maybe six or eight ideas floating around" predicted that the record should be done by June.
Meanwhile, the first volume of the greatest hits will be followed up with the second one, featuring more rarities, remixes, B-sides and new tracks. It will be released in February next year.
