Moviehole.net reports that Angelina Jolie has been cast to play the female lead opposite Pierce Brosnan in "The Topkapi Affair."

AceShowbiz - Since Rene Russo has been confirmed to not reprise her part as Catherine Banning in "The Topkapi Affair", it is not surprising to hear a new female lead is already been found for the flick. What makes it so sensational is the name assigned for the role, which turns out to be none other than Angelina Jolie.

Yes, that's likely to be her according to Moviehole.net, as it claimed that the Oscar-winning actress has "finally reached a deal to play Pierce Brosnans leading lady in the movie." While did not say anything about the character she is set to portray, the site, however, openly revealed that the project is based on Eric Ambler's "The Light of Day" which Peter Ustinov adapted for his 1964 heist movie "Topkapi" and "will please fans of the first movie but also newcomers to the series."

"The film will shoot on location in Turkey, with many local actors - and extras - required for the pre-strike shoot", a scooper to Moviehole added.

A follow-up to John McTiernan's 1999 effort "The Thomas Crown Affair", "Topkapi" this time finds Crown going after the Kasikci Diamond that is kept in the Topkapi palace in Istanbul. Script was penned by "Bandits" scribe Harley Peyton with Brosnan also producing alongside Dino Conte and Beau St. Clair.
