High School Musical Feature Has Its Story Totally Changed

Pic's premise is no longer set during Halloween and will focus on the characters' senior years instead.

Don't know if this is good news or not, but there will be no scary things happening in the big screen version of the phenomenal "High School Musical", that's for sure.

A spokesperson of Walt Disney Pictures confirmed to TVGuide.com that plans to present a story set during Halloween involving some sort of haunted house in the project, originally titled "Haunted High School Musical", have been completely dropped.

In its change of mind, Disney thus will work on a new premise centering on the fast-growing "kids" senior year instead. It is unclear whether the studio is still sticking to the plan to release this next entry of the popular series in 2008, but what can be informed for now is that no cast members from the original have inked deals yet.

"High School Musical" franchise got its first installment released on January 20, 2006 on Disney Channel to then see the second one launched on August 17, 2007 following the massive success of the original. The sequel amazingly drew in 17.24 million viewers during the day, making it the most watched cable telecast in history and the most-watched made-for-cable movie ever.
