Tripper Filmmakers Accused of Copying Another Movie
A screenwriter has sued "The Tripper" director David Arquette and his company Coquette Productions Inc. for copying the story of his 2002 work.

Suspected to rip off the premise presented in a 2002 feature titled "The Truth About Beef Jerky", filmmakers of slasher flick "The Tripper" are facing a lawsuit for copyright infringement filed by screenwriter of the movie, Fritz Junker.

Report from TMZ informed that Junker had placed legal papers in a Los Angeles court Thursday, August 16, 2007 alleging director David Arquette and his Coquette Productions Inc. shingle for copying the story of "Beef Jerky" as both films centers on a group of modern-day hippies who get hunted by a psychopath at a music festival in California.

"A reasonable audience presented with the two works would recognize The Tripper to be based upon The Truth About Beef Jerky," so the lawsuit stated.

Regarding the matter, Junker is said to seek financial compensation in an amount to be determined at trial considering "Tripper" has destroyed the commercial potential of "Jerky" as well as made him suffer significant harm and injury.
