Successful in becoming an accomplished actress, Katherine Heigl now is preparing to spark a new profession as film producer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the beauty has established her own production company with her manager mother Nancy Heigl and is currently setting up an untitled action comedy which she will also star in.
Plot details as well as names to direct and write have not yet been revealed, but it is learned that pic will be developed at Fox 2000 with Spyglass Entertainment also producing while Bob Kosberg and David Simon both executive producing through their Nash Entertainment shingle.
Heighl, an Emmy nominee this year for "Grey's Anatomy, had been looking to venture into producing field for some time ago with hopes to craft a film feature and work with writers. Around this period, Kosberg and Simon had already hatched a concept for the project and, coincidentally, targeted Heigl to develop it, thus bringing the pitch to the actress, who was attending a press junket for "Knocked Up" in Santa Monica.
"I wasn't sure if she thought I was going to ask her a question about 'Knocked Up' or if she knew I was going to pitch her," Kosberg recalled. "I had done pitches in some pretty unique places, like elevators. but never in the middle of a press junket."
