Melanie Brown filed a paternity suit Wednesday August 1st against Eddie Murphy, asking for child support for her 3-month-old daughter.

AceShowbiz - The battle continues and it's getting even more serious. Melanie Brown aka Scary Spice, has on Wednesday August 1st, filed a paternity suit against former boyfriend Eddie Murphy, seeks to legally establish him as the father of her four-month-old daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown while is asking for child support as well.

"I am here today for one reason and one reason only; her name is Angel," so the singer told a Los Angeles press conference announcing the suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. "Angel is my baby and Eddie's. She will always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us, but I want her to know that she has two parents who desire to be responsible for her during her life and who love her so much that they want to be a part of it."

Brown's high-profile attorney, Gloria Allred, said "We've had communication with his attorney, and now we're moving forward." Eddie's spokesman, elsewhere, declined to comment saying, "We just don't comment on Eddie Murphy's personal life."

Eddie, an actor and comedian, proposed to girlfriend Tracey Edmonds on Wednesday July 25th, presenting her with a yellow diamond engagement ring and they are planning to walk down the aisle before the year's end.

Eddie took a DNA test on June 11th amid heavy speculation that he's the father of Brown's daughter Angel. And on June 21s it is officially confirmed that he is her father.
