R&B crooner Craig David is assisting rapper Kano with his new single "This is the Girl" that is taken from the Jamaican-British rapper's new album. The single is actually slated to be released on August 27 but it has leaked online.
Kano has been grateful on the collaboration saying, “Me and Craig coming together is a great thing because a lot of the times in the UK you don’t see collaborations like that, its all about making great music at the end of the day.”
"This is the Girl" would be the first single pulled out of "London Town", Kano's second studio album that is due September 3. There are two versions of this song. The original sports the usual R&B combined with rapping while the other one is in acoustic.
A music video has been shot recently for the song. It features Kano on his typical day in the studio with Craig. There's also the scene where they shot videos, performed onstage shows, and hit the after party whereby Kano was hitched to girls.
Kano's debut album "Home Sweet Home" (2005) debuted in U.K. Top 40 at #36, thanks to the infectious single "Typical Me". He has confirmed that the sophomore set will be better than the previous one for he's confident with the guest appearances in the album. Beside Craig, musicians collaborating for the album are Kate Nash, Blur's Damon Albarn, Vybes Kartel, Lemar and Leo The Lion.
Craig also has his support behind Kano's back. He described his new friend to have "an amazing ability to see everything around him" and "put that into his songs". He said, "When making a track he really has something to say, he’s not just about talking about the streets. He puts the time and effort into making a song and he has brilliant lyrics.”
