Freddy Rodriguez Is 'Ugly Betty''s New Love Interest

Freddy Rodriguez will join the ABC show "Ugly Betty", playing a new love interest for America Ferrera's role.

'Betty' is no longer searching for love, she's found one. And the lucky man is Freddy Rodriguez.

A Puerto Rican-American actor known for playing sensitive Hector Federico "Rico" Diaz on HBO's "Six Feet Under", Rodriguez is joining the cast of ABC's comedy-drama series "Ugly Betty," being tipped to play the role of Gio, the new love interest for Betty.

Gio here is described as a smart, ambitious, aggressive and lovable blue-collar guy who runs the office sandwich cart and prides himself on making each sandwich a work of art. It won't be long before sparks begin to fly between him and Betty, the role played by America Ferrera.

In other Rodriguez news, the actor also is cast in the indie "Bottle Shock," which tells the story of Chateau Montelena, a small, struggling California vineyard that won a blind taste test in Paris in 1976 to break into the previously French-dominated wine industry.

Rodriguez is slated to play a guy gifted with an extraordinary palate who works at the winery. "Bottle Shock" is written and to be directed by Randy Miller.
