Working on another possible fantasy franchise in preparation for the conclusion of its "Harry Potter" film series, Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled its plan to develop "Septimus Heap: Magyk", an adaptation of Angie Sage's first book in her "Septimus Heap" series.

The company is learned to have obtained all rights to the seven-book series from HarperCollins Publishers and will set the movie version of the first chapter with Sage herself and Karen Rosenfelt to executive produce and produce, respectively.

"We are delighted that Warner Bros. will be creating films from the 'Septimus Heap' series," President and Publisher of HarperCollins Children's Books Susan Katz stated. "We know that the producers share our belief that the world of 'Septimus Heap' is quirky, humorous, and unlike anything else in children's fantasy."

The series revolves around two babies that are switched at birth, a boy who discovers his birthright as son of a powerful wizard and a girl destined to be a princess. The original "Magyk" was published in March 2005 to instantly become an international bestseller, debuting at #3 on the New York Times Best Sellers List to then move to #1 in its second week on-sale.
