Big Names Invited to Become AMPAS Members

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and other 112 individuals to join the organization.

AceShowbiz - Marking its fourth year in going public with its invitation list, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that 115 individuals, who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures, have been offered chances to become the 2007 additions to its roster of voting members.

"These individuals are all exceptionally accomplished in their respective fields," Academy President Sid Ganis remarked. "We're looking forward to having them join the Academy's ranks."

Included in the list are notable actors like Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Jennifer Hudson, and Michael Sheen as well as acclaimed names behind the camera such as Paul Greengrass, Peter Morgan, J.J. Abrams, and William Monahan, who took home Oscar's Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay this year for "The Departed." Invites are also extended to cinematographers, sound and visual effects artists, producers, animators, editors, costume designers, makeup artists, and art directors, among others.
