With a chart-topping album coming out few months before 2007 MuchMusic Awards, Avril Lavigne became an expected winner in the event. Her winning of two categories however, is toned down with a bigger number from Billy Talent.

The rock band snatched three trophies mainly for their video "Fallen Leaves". Both Best Video and MuchLOUD Best Rock Video were taken home along with obviously, people choice's of Favorite Canadian Group.

Lavigne, who also performed that night, snagged Best International Video by Canadian for "Girlfriend" and people's choice of Favorite Canadian Artist. For the latter, Lavigne spared some tears and said, "All the fans just voted for me and that really means a lot, so thank you." Her husband Deryck Whibley was also present in the event and admitted to looking forward to her performance.

Best International Artist was taken by Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie while people's choice for the same category went to Hilary Duff. People's Favorite International Group, meanwhile was handed to My Chemical Romance who came out strong last year with "The Black Parade". The band also gained the award Best International Video for "Welcome to the Black Parade".
