David S. Goyer Becomes More "Invisible"

David S. Goyer Becomes More "Invisible"
Renowned screenwriter David S. Goyer has been hired to both write and helm "The Invisible Man", a sequel to the 1987 sci-fi novella by H.G. Wells.

It's pretty rare for a filmmaker to have a film project bearing similar title to the one he recently got it released, but that's what happens to David S. Goyer now. Still fresh from helming supernatural thriller "The Invisible", the man reportedly has been assigned to both write and direct "The Invisible Man" for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.

A new take on the H.G. Wells classic, the flick is conceived as a sequel to the author's original tale instead, presenting the story of a British nephew of the original Invisible Man who discovers his uncle's formula to get invisible and later is recruited by British intelligence agency MI5 during WWII.

"I've always been a fan of the original H.G. Wells book as well as the Universal film and felt the property was ripe for reimagining," Goyer remarked.

While names onboard to star have yet to be cast, it is learned that Imagine exec Brian Gazer is committed to produce with Chris Wade and David Bernardi also being involved in a producing capacity. The latter previously served as an associate producer for Peter Berg's 2004 effort "Friday Night Lights" and the executive producer of the 2006 animated flick "Curious George."
