Finally making her way to be the lead again since her stint in "Surviving Christmas", Christina Applegate has landed a starring slot in Fox Atomic's new comedy "The Rocker" that the studio is developing in association with 21 Laps Entertainment.
Apart from the actress, the flick has also added a handful of other actors in the cast lineup. Names submitted include Jeff Garlin, Emma Stone, Jason Sudeikis, Jane Lynch, Demetri Martin, and musician-actor Teddy Geiger.
Toplined by "The Office" star Rainn Wilson, "Rocker" finds the funnyman becoming a failed, over-the-hill drummer who, twenty years after getting booted out of his now uber-famous band, scores a second chance at fame with a new act, a high school garage band headed by his nephew, played by Josh Gad. Applegate is said to portray his love interest also the mother of the troupe's lead guitarist.
Principal photography is due to begin June 18 in Toronto, Canada with Peter Cattaneo helming and Shawn Levy producing alongside Tom McNulty. Script originally was penned by Ryan Jaffe but now is being entrusted to Wallace Wolodarsky and Maya Forbes to work on.
