Filling in the supporting roles, James Franco and Christopher Meloni have been submitted into the cast of Warner Bros. Pictures' "Nights in Rodanthe" toplined by Richard Gere and Diane Lane, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Adapted from Nicholas Sparks' novel of the same title, the romantic drama finds Gere as a doctor who has a life-changing romance with an unhappily married woman, played by Lane, when he stops in the beach town on his journey to reconcile with his estranged son. Franco will be billed as the son while Meloni is plotted to be the husband of Lane's character.
Pic, a Village Roadshow co-production, is developed based on a screenplay by Ken Hixon and Ann Peacock with George Wolfe at helm. Denise Di Novi has come onboard to serve as the producer while Doug Claybourne, Alison Greenspan, Dana Goldberg, and Bruce Berman are all executive producing.
