Ciara will make her film debut opposite Patti LaBelle and Lynn Whitfield in the upcoming movie adaptation of gospel musical "Mama, I Want To Sing!"

Singing and fronting Rocawear women's line, Ciara is now readying herself to invade film industry. The R&B sensation is about to make her feature film debut in the screen adaptation of gospel musical "Mama, I Want to Sing!"

The film, which will be produced by CodeBlack Entertainment, based loosely on the life of Doris Troy, follows the story of a preacher's daughter who hits the big time. Charles Randolph-Wright is lending hand to direct the project.

On her calling to star in "Mama, I Want to Sing!" Ciara commented, "I've always strived to inspire and uplift my fans through my music. It's refreshing to now have the chance to do so through film, along side such an innovative, enterprising company. Together with CodeBlack, I now have an amazing opportunity to perpetuate many of the principles and values I project musically, from the importance of possessing confidence and self-worth, to sincerity within one's character."

Set to play the lead role of a preacher's daughter who transitions from singing in the church to become a pop superstar, Ciara will be starring opposite the legendary Patti LaBelle and actress Lynn Whitfield. Production is set to begin next month in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the film is set for release February next year.
