Billy Crystal is being honored with the Mark Twain Prize for comedy.

AceShowbiz - He is a comedian whose job is entertaining people. And it seems Billy Crystal does it very well that the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will award him its Mark Twain Humor Prize.

Crystal is slated to receive the honor October 11th later this year at a tribute performance that will be televised by PBS. He is the 10th recipient of the award.

"The work he has created for stage, film and television has made an indelible impression," Kennedy Center Chairman Stephen Schwarzman said Tuesday May 1st. "It is the work of not just a humorist but also a humanist."

A Golden Globe Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning actor-comedian, Crystal has starred in such movies, as "When Harry Met Sally..." (1989) and "City Slickers" (1991).
