Nine Inch Nails Counteracts Piracy of "Year Zero"

Probably to intimidate the pirates, Nine Inch Nails featured a high quality recording of their latest album in their official website one week prior the release date.

Tired of the piracy acted upon their latest album "Year Zero", Nine Inch Nails made the tracks available in the band's website. This act is triggered by the two recent leaks of the album within a week.

On April 1, a low quality recording of the album went out on a number of peer-to-peer networks. Three days later, a better quality, presumably the promotional disc surfaced in other sites. Trent Reznor finally took action by commissioning Chicago's Q101 to circulate the entire tracks on the radio station.

"Year Zero" was finished on February 5 and is intended for April 17 release in US. Reznor collaborates with engineer Atticus Ross and long time contributor Alan Moulder. In a recent interview with Kerrang! Radio Reznor said that there might be a movie version of this album. He said the album is part of a bigger picture of a number of things that he's working on. "Essentially, I wrote the soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist."
