Kaiser Chiefs Turned Down Princess Diana's Memorial Concert

April 09, 2007 07:37:07 GMT

Saying that they do not really know Princess Diana in person, Kaiser Chiefs think that it will be hypocritical for them to appear there.

Despite many artists saying 'yes' to Princess Diana's anniversary concert, boldly said 'no'. The new wave band refused to perform at the memorial concert because they believe it is 'hypocritical'.

"It's fine if you're doing something like Live 8, which is raising awareness or events that raise awareness over green issues. That's all right. But a lot of them are doing it to sell more records," frontman Ricky Wilson said. "I'm not disrespecting her (Diana), but can you imagine someone like playing at the concert? can do it - he knew her. I didn't know her. It would be hypocritical."

The memorial concert will be held on Princess Diana's birthday on July 1 at London's Wembley Stadium. Other artists tapped to perform are , , , , and many more. This concert will benefit many charity organizations including Diana Memorial Fund.
