Helen Mirren and Ed Harris reportedly have come onboard to star in Buena Vista Pictures' "National Treasure: Book of Secrets."
Finally, new names for "National Treasure" sequel are submitted to join the principal cast members from the 2003 adventure flick. JoBlo has revealed that Helen Mirren and Ed Harris have both reached agreement to take part in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets."
Lining up with Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, and Harvey Keitel who all are set to reprise their roles, Oscar-winner Mirren is billed to portray Emily Gates, the mother of Cage's character Ben Gates. JoBlo reported that she would help link her son to his family's connection to John Wilkes Booth and the mysterious Knights of the Gold Circle.
Harris, in the meantime, is said to play a man named Jeb Wilkinson who has some information about Gates' father and enrolls himself as an ally to him. To the four-time Oscar nominee, "Secrets" in turn marks his next collaboration with Cage after "The Rock" plus Kruger after "Copying Beethoven."
Apart from the return of the old cast, helmer Jon Turteltaub is also back to direct from script penned once more by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley as well as to again produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer. Filming is currently under way on locations around the States to meet a December 21, 2007 release.
