Warner Bros. Pictures is going to make an action adventure feature based on Lionel Wigram's upcoming graphic novel "Sherlock Holmes."

AceShowbiz - Forming lavish pact with producer Lionel Wigram, Warner Bros. Pictures is set to develop "Sherlock Holmes", a big screen adaptation of the man's upcoming comic book of the same title, Variety has reported.

Wigram's vision on the famed fictional detective, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is said to have him lost some of his Victorian stuffiness and got more adventurous, including playing up his skills as a bare-knuckle boxer and expert swordsman as he goes about solving crimes.

Exact storyline of the action-adventure flick is being kept under wraps, but creative execs at the studio revealed that they are intending to get the team behind reinvented Holmes' loyal confidante, Dr. John H. Watson, in much the same edgy way that Christopher Nolan has re-imagined Batman for the company.

In bringing up the project to the surface, screenwriter Michael Johnson has already been assigned to work on the script with "The Descent" helmer Neil Marshall directing. Pic is expected to be the latter's next directorial stint after he finishes filming "Doomsday" for Rogue Pictures as Warner is eager to push ahead.
