"300" director Zack Snyder is on board to co-write and produce a new action fantasy titled "Sucker Punch" at his company, Cruel and Unusual Films.
Setting up the first project for his new company, Cruel and Unusual Films, Zack Snyder is about to develop an action fantasy feature entitled "Sucker Punch" which he also eyes as a directing vehicle.
Described the project to be "an 'Alice in Wonderland' with machine guns", the "300" helmer will co-write the screenplay alongside Steve Shibuya who will adapt from his own original short story. It is said that the flick is intended to be visually arresting and will blend such elements as dragons, B-52 bombers and brothels with music playing a key role.
As for the story, "Punch" follows a girl as she is confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather who intends to get her lobotomized in five days. In her effort to hide from the pain, the girl creates an alternative reality where she starts to plan her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
"In the end, it's about this girl's survival and what she needs to do to be able to cope," said Synder's wife, Deborah Snyder, who is set to produce the film with her husband.
