The head of the Quebec Film and Television Council has confirmed that Universal Pictures is going to shoot "The Mummy 3" in Montreal, Canada.

AceShowbiz - Taking similar path as Marvel Studios has intended to apply on "The Incredible Hulk", Universal Pictures has also come to a conclusion to carry out production on "The Mummy 3" in Canada, only this task will be conducted in Montreal instead of Toronto, where the former is about to be shot.

Head of the Quebec Film and Television Council Hans Fraikin has confirmed the news to PlaybackMag.com supported by a statement from Michel Trudel of the Cite du Cinema studio, where the project is going to take shape.

"That Mummy 3 is back is wonderful for the industry. It's great that the government reacted so quickly to resolve this dispute," so Trudel commented, hinting that the settlement recently made between the AQTIS and IATSE technicians unions is one main thing that makes Universal finally go for the decision.

Said to be made at US$100 million budget, the movie has already had "XXX" helmer Rob Cohen to direct from a script written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. No confirmation yet about either start date or the cast lineup, so it is still unclear whether the heavy rumor saying Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh also star in rings true.
