Recipients included the creative names behind "Pan's Labyrinth", "Dreamgirls", and "Letters from Iwo Jima" plus Alan Arkin as best supporting actor.

As the most prestigious event in filmmaking is finally held, the list of Oscar honorees begins to roll out and coming early in the lineup delightfully were the crew of "Pan's Labyrinth", "Dreamgirls", "Letters from Iwo Jima", and "The Departed" with Alan Arkin taking home one prize for his appearance in "Little Miss Sunshine."

Presenting the tale of a girl who concocts an elaborate fantasy world to escape her harsh reality in 1940s Fascist Spain, "Labyrinth" successfully scooped up two prizes of Best Achievement in Makeup and Art Direction while Arkin nabbed the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, beating out the likes of Eddie Murphy, Jackie Earle Haley, Djimon Hounsou, and Mark Wahlberg.

Meanwhile, "Dreamgirls", "Letters", and "Departed" landed one honor each, scoring in Best Achievement in Sound, Best Achievement in Sound Editing, and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published, respectively with "West Bank Story" being named Best Short Film, Live Action.

In the animated slot, "Happy Feet" and "The Danish Poet" joyously had their triumph at the event, the former earning "Best Animated Feature Film of the Year" title while the latter taking that of Best Short Film, Animated.
