Audioslave Singer Chris Cornell Quits the Group

Chris Cornell is leaving rock group Audioslave, citing "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences."

Chris Cornell, the lead singer of alternative rock supergroup Audioslave, has quit the music act, citing "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences".

Announcing his leaving the group, Cornell said Thursday February 15th, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."

Cornell, a former singer and guitarist of Seattle grunge band Soundgarden, will go on working on his solo career, planning to have his second solo album, "Carry On," released May 1st later this year.

Back in 2001 when Audioslave was first formed, it comprised of Cornell and three former members of Rage Against the Machine; guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk. Since then on the group has recorded three albums. Prior to Cornell's quitting the formation, the rest three members have reunited with singer Zack de la Rocha to resurrect Rage Against the Machine which is slated to perform at California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 29.
