Buena Vista Pictures has revealed that the sequel to its 2004 hit "National Treasure" will be titled "National Treasure II: The Book of Secrets."

AceShowbiz - At last the follow-up to adventure hit "National Treasure" has its name now. Buena Vista Pictures, the studio producing the project, has confirmed that the title for the sequel will be "National Treasure II: The Book of Secrets" as it is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2007.

The title refers to the eighteen pages which are actually missing from a journal written by John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated the 16th U.S president Abraham Lincoln during his visit to attend a performance of "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865.

As for the movie itself, it once again sees Jon Turteltaub and Jerry Bruckheimer seat as director and executive producer, respectively, with principal cast members like Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, and Harvey Keitel all returning. Meanwhile, the plot is said to most likely center on confederate gold that is hidden for the re-rising of the south.
