Grammys to Honour 70s Rock Legends with Its Lifetime Achievement Awards



Influential rock bands The Doors and the Grateful Dead will receive Lifetime Achievement Grammy Awards next year.

Numbers of influential rock bands, including Grateful Dead and The Doors, have been tapped to receive Lifetime Achievement awards at next year's Grammys.

"This year's group of accomplished honorees are as diverse as they are influential as creators of the most renowned and prominent recordings in the world," said Recording Academy President Neil Portnow. "Their contributions exemplify the highest artistic and technical standards that have positively affected the music industry and music fans."

Also on the list for the prestigious awards are jazz saxophone player Ornette Coleman and the late opera singer Maria Callas, folk singer Joan Baez, soul musicians Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and late country music icon Bob Wills.

The honor is said to be handed out during a ceremony leading up to the main Grammy Awards, which takes place in Los Angeles on February 11th.
