Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment will develop "Prodigal Son", a rom-com flick about a woman dating Jesus Christ in modern day.
Continues their collaboration, Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are setting up a rom-com feature titled "Prodigal Son", Variety has learned.
With Brian Grazer to produce, the project concerns a workaholic single woman being pushed by her mother to date a handsome, kind and caring carpenter who turns out to be Jesus Christ in his return for Armageddon. Gigi Levangie Grazer has already been tapped to pen the script alongside Mimi James.
"It's a love it or hate it idea, but we're not aiming to offend," Gigi Grazer commented on the unusual theme. "He (Christ) won't be having sex. It'll be a disarming romantic comedy, a story of unrequited love, sort of like 'Splash.'"
