Houston-born actor Dennis Quaid will star in "The Express", Universal Pictures' biopic about football great Ernie Davis.

For the few next years, prepare to see the continuous appearances of Dennis Quaid on the big screen as the actor has added one more starring role to his burgeoning list of upcoming movie stints which has already included those in "Vantage Point", "Smart People", and "The Horsemen."

Yes, the "Dragonheart" star is reported to have reached a deal to take part in Ernie Davis' biopic "The Express" for Universal Pictures as the coach of the football great. The movie itself will carefully depict the true story of Davis who became the first black player to win the Heisman Trophy yet never got to play professionally due to leukemia.

Shooting is slated to kick off in March with Gary Fleder directing and John Davis producing. Meanwhile, "Blood Diamond" scribe Charles Leavitt is working on the script originally drafted by Scott Williams.
