Terrence Howard will star in "Iron Man as the title character's closest associates, James Rhodes.

AceShowbiz - Here comes another great talent to "Iron Man." Variety has revealed that Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard is set to share scenes with Robert Downey Jr. in the superhero flick. The "Crash" star will be billed as James Rhodes, the closest associates and accomplice of the title character, played by Downey Jr..

Though it is widely known among comic fans that Rhodes has an alter ego named War Machine, Howard will not don any armored suits in the project since Rhodes' transition to become the superhero is likely to be saved for the sequel.

The first feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment, "Iron Man" is scheduled to start production in February 2007 to meet a May 2, 2008 release. "Zathura" helmer Jon Favreau has been tapped to direct based on script penned by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Mark Fergus, and Hawk Ostby.

Howard, a Chicago native, recently was reported to work together with Craig Brewer in developing "Untitled Charley Pride Biopic" for Paramount Pictures. Apart from "Iron Man", he is also attached to star in "The Brave One" opposite Jodie Foster and "The Hunting Party" alongside Richard Gere plus Diane Kruger.
