Singer-songwriter Jewel has been named to co-host the fifth season of Nashville Star.

Singer-songwriter Jewel Kilcher has been tapped to co-host the fifth season of the USA show "Nashville Star", the program attempts to find fresh talent in the country music industry.

Jewel reportedly will be working alongside Cowboy Troy, who also co-hosted during the most recent programs. The new season will begin Jan. 11 with winner set to receive a recording contract.

Speaking on her new task, Jewel commented "I grew up on a ranch in Alaska, and my favorite memories are of sitting around a campfire with my father and listening to the songs he wrote and sang. It was pure country music, and it has made me a sincere fan of country music ever since."
