Willie Nelson and several members of his band were cited for drug possession in Louisiana early Monday Sept 18th.
Veteran musician Willie Nelson created abuzz among public worldwide when he and several of his bandmates were cited for drug possession early Monday Sept 18th, 2006 when his tour bus was stopped in Saint Martin Parish, Louisiana.
Per Willie Williams of the Louisiana Highway Patrol, the country music crooner and his entourage were traveling along Highway 10 when "The tour bus was stopped on a common interstate vehicle inspection, and when the trooper approached the bus door a strong odor of marijuana was detected". A further search of the bus, moreover, found 1½ pounds of marijuana and slightly more than three ounces of narcotic mushrooms.
"No one aboard the bus gave any of our troopers any problems. When the search was conducted, they were very cordial and subsequently admitted to being the owners of the narcotics", William revealed further. However, Nelson and his band members, Tony Sizemore, Bobbie Nelson, Gates Moore, and David Anderson were not arrested because the St. Martin Parish jail was "filled to capacity." It will be up to the county district attorney to decide whether the musicians will be called to court.
