Vincent Cassel has joined Naomi Watts and Viggo Mortensen in David Cronenberg's thriller of "Eastern Promises."

AceShowbiz - Continues to take part in Hollywood film feature, Vincent Cassel has given his agreement to join London-set thriller "Eastern Promises" to play a man named Petrid, whose family owns a Russian brothel.

With this inclusion, the French actor thereby is the latest addition in the project after Naomi Watts and Viggo Mortensen to come under the direction of the "eXistenZ" helmer David Cronenberg. The movie itself revolves around a nurse, played by Watts, who unexpectedly stumbles into danger when investigating the identity of a mysterious young Russian girl following her death in childbirth.

Scheduled for a September 14, 2007 release, "Promises" is a Focus Features production in its collaboration with BBC Films. Paul Webster is seating as producer with Steve Knight being assigned to pen the script.

The son of leading French thespian Jean-Pierre Cassel, Vincent Cassel is known to often play tough guy roles. Came to international prominence in Jean Reno's vehicle of "The Crimson Rivers", he most recently starred in "Ocean's Twelve" and "Derailed."
