First Elton John came up with "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy." Now it's time for the singer to bring to the surface "The Captain and the Kid", the follow up to the 1975's set.
"It was Merck Mercuriadis' (Sanctuary Group CEO) idea, because he said, 'You're always saying how Bernie (Taupin) has become the Brown Dirt Cowboy' -- he lives on a ranch in Santa Ynez (Calif.) -- and I'm this guy who plays concert after concert, buying art, buying photographs, living a very lavish lifestyle," John told Billboard. "I've become Captain Fantastic."
The Rocket/Island music project has been scheduled to touch the market September 19 later this year. The first single of it, titled "The Bridge" will be available August 22nd from Apple's iTunes Music Store.
John will premiere the material at an intimate September 6th show at Rose Hall in New York. Members of John's Rocket club have first crack at tickets starting Friday August 11th via EltonJohn.com (http://www.eltonjohn.com). He will next kick off a North American tour in support of "The Captain and the Kid" on September 15th in Sacramento, Calif.
