Red Hot Chili Peppers and Shakira receive seven MTV awards nods each.

AceShowbiz - MTV announced its nominees for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday July 31st and there it goes Latin singer Shakira and the Red Hot Chili Peppers leading the list with seven nominations each. The rock band and the pop superstar will compete for Video of the Year award for the videos "Dani California" and "Hips Don't Lie".

As of Shakira, she also is up for Best Female Video award still for the same single competing that of Christina Aguilera's "Ain't No Other Man", Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You", Madonna's "Hung Up", and Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous". Elsewhere, Red Hot Chili Peppers also vies for Best Group Video along with The All-American Rejects' "Move Along", Fall Out Boy's "Dance, Dance", Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy", and Panic! at the Disco's "I Write Sins Not Tragedies".

Some other artists also in the running for the award are Busta Rhymes' "Touch It Remix", James Blunt's "You're Beautiful", Kanye West's "Gold Digger", Nick Lachey's "What's Left Of Me", and T.I.'s "What You Know" all of which up for Best Male Video category. 50 Cent's "Window Shopper", Busta Rhymes' "Touch It Remix", Chamillionaire's "Ridin'", T.I.'s "What You Know", and Yung Joc's "It's Goin' Down" are Best Rap Video contenders.
