Fantasia collaborates with her American Idol, Aretha Franklin, on her next album.
While the new American Idols are busy with their "American Idols Live!", the third season Idol Fantasia Barrino is in the recording studio preparing her upcoming LP.
As for her new album, Fantasia has it very special for she's collaborated with her American Idol, Aretha Franklin, for one of its tracks. "She's my idol, and I've always wanted to do something with her," Fantasia said while adding "Actually, she wanted to meet me when I was on the 'Idol' show and I was nervous and I didn't want to meet her, but I'm ready now. I'm better now, and it's an honor and a blessing to get to perform with such an awesome woman. She's a legend."
Details on the track are being kept under wrap, except that it will likely be released on both Fantasia's and Aretha's upcoming albums.
The Fantasia's "Free Yourself" follow-up, besides featuring Franklin, also includes such guests as Kanye West, Missy Elliott and Ne-Yo.
"We're still in the studio, but it's gonna be a lot different from the first album," Fantasia said. "I'm not in love. I'm not trying to be in love. I'm not hurt. I'm bad now."
The yet-undetermined first single reportedly to hit the airwaves in August, just in time for Fantasia acting debut in Debbie Allen's "Life Is Not a Fairy Tale: The Fantasia Barrino Story," premieres August 19 on Lifetime, in which she stars as herself.
