The Boston Pops will perform with Aerosmith at Boston's annual Independence Day concert on Tuesday July 4th, 2006.
One of the prominent American rock bands, Aerosmith has been tapped to join the venerable and best-known city orchestra, the Boston Pops, at Boston's annual Independence Day concert held on Tuesday July 4th, 2006.
The free outdoor show is part of the 121-year-old orchestra's move to add more rock to its repertoire.
Elvis Costello will serve as guest artist at the opening of this year's Pops season with an acoustic set in May, featuring his hit "Alison," and a 15-minute piece from his 2004 score to Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart describes the sets as genre-bending, whereas its management say they are essential to the orchestra's future as it faces unrivaled competition for entertainment such as home theaters and downloaded music.
