All the protests and all the bad reviews could not prevent "The Da Vinci Code" from recording a $224 million worldwide opening, to be on top position

All the protests and bad reviews addressed to "The Da Vinci Code" apparently could not prevent the flick from garnering a $77 million domestic opening, while raking in a huge $224 million worldwide, to become on the very top position on the North America box office.

The 2nd biggest opening film is "Over the Hedge" which taking in $37.2 million in ticket sales, followed after by "Mission: Impossible 3" with $11 million at No.3. At No. 4 is "Poseidon", earning $9.2 million, then come "R.V." at No. 5 scoring $5.1 million in ticket sales, and "See No Evil" at No. 6 with $4.3 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 on the box office is "Just My Luck" at No. 7 earning $3.3 million, "An American Haunting" is at 8th position scoring $1.6 million in ticket sales, "United 93" earning $1.4 million in ticket sales to secure the 9th position, and "Akeelah and the Bee" is finishing the Top 10 with only $1 million.
