"Da Vinci" opened at the Cannes Film Festival Wednesday May 17th, 2006 with a black-tie premiere that brought stars Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKe

Despite the worldwide controversy it has caused, the highly anticipated drama mystery thriller "The Da Vinci Code" opened Wednesday May 17th, 2006 at the 59th Cannes Film Festival.

Attending the premiere among others were Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen and Paul Bettany.

Responding to the many controversy concerning his film, director Ron Howard simply suggested people not to see it if they suspect the movie will upset them.
