Green Day gained two honors at the 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards

This year is likely to still be the band era, particularly at the MTV Europe Music Awards as Green Day and Coldplay successfully grabbed two prizes each in this event which took place in the capital of Portuguese, Lisbon. The U.S. punk rock trio won the Best Rock Act and Best Album category for "American Idiot" while the British act brought home the awards for Best U.K. and Ireland Act as well as Best Song through "Speed of Sound."

Selected by music fans from across Europe and Africa who voted via MTV's website online, the other winners included Shakira, Robbie Williams, Snoop Dogg, and Alicia Keys. Congrats to you all.
