Eccentric singer Elton John is going to perform outside the Colosseum on September 3, so said Rome officials on Friday. The concert, which is a free one, is reported to take place on the Via dei Fori Imperiali, the large boulevard that leads to the Colosseum and is lined with ancient Roman relics.
Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni told a news conference, "It will be a great event ... held in the most charming scenery in the world." As for John he said, "I can't wait to meet my fans in Rome for a unique musical happening. It is so exciting.
