Hundreds of fans joined the band's three members, Al Jardine, Brian Wilson, and David Marks, to mark the opening of the landmark, which idea is uttered by a fan of them named Harry Jarnagan. In realisation of the landmark, it eventually gained the support of the musicians themselves and local politicians.
