"Drumline" star Nick Cannon has signed on to play the lead role in "Miracle Cars," a based-on-fact comedy from New Line Cinema. The movie tells the true story of two 19-year-olds from Carson, California, named Robert Gomez and James Nichols, who both orchestrated a $21 million auto fraud.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gomez and Nichols were working as security guards when they bilked a legion of churchgoers into buying imaginary cars that they claimed were part of the estate of a rich Christian benefactor. Besides starring in the project, Cannon will also executive produce the movie.
