HBO Exec Says 'Game of Thrones' Sex and Rape Scenes Are Not 'Gratuitous'

HBO programming director Michael Lombardo has addressed the often controversial sex scenes and violence on "Game of Thrones". Speaking at the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, he defended the level of violence and graphic scenes on the hit series.

"I personally don't see myself as a libertine," he said. "I don't think [graphic scenes] have ever been without any purpose." Believing that showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss "are two very sober, thoughtful men," he explained, "They have books as a map. Which involve wars, violence, sex. We have certainly not given them an edict or a note that they need to tone down the sexual content in the show."

The report, however, suggests that Carey has more power in the agreement. The "My All" singer reportedly is allowed to announce the separation under her terms. Meanwhile, the host of "America's Got Talent" will face severe financial penalties if he says a word.

Morrissey's New Album Removed From iTunes After Singer Blasts Record Label

Morrissey's newest album "World Peace Is None of Your Business" is no longer available for purchase on digital retailers including iTunes and Amazon.com. As pointed out by Slicing Up Eyeballs, the LP which was released a few weeks ago has also been removed from streaming sites like Spotify or Rdio.

The removal came shortly after Mos criticized his record label Capitol/Harvest in a new statement posted on fansite True to You. In the lengthy message titled "Please Close the Door Behind Me", the singer detailed his relationship with the record company.

Rihanna Obtains Restraining Order Against Stalker

Rihanna obtained a restraining order against a man who was found lurking outside her house in Hollywood Hills, California last week, TMZ reported. The unidentified man was ordered to stay away from the "We Found Love" singer and her house for at least 100 yards.

Last week, RiRi's security guards saw the man hanging around her house for around three to four hours and believed he was trying to scale the fence. The man ran away after noticing the guards. However, police managed to find him and arrested him on an unrelated vandalism charge.

According to The Associated Press, Egan's move to dismiss the case was not caused by Singer's strength in defense, but Egan's lack of lawyer.

In his latest filing, Egan explains that the dismissal "has little to do with the strength of (Singer's) defense, but rather, it is a consequence of the current circumstances regarding my case, my lack of legal counsel, and my inability to proceed in this matter acting on my own behalf." In July, Egan's lawyer asked to be removed from the case after their client-lawyer relationship had broken down.

HBO programming director Michael Lombardo has offered a scoop from "True Detective" season 2. At the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, August 21, he gushed about how good the next installment would be compared to last season.

"When you have a success like 'True Detective' it's challenging, less for us and more for someone like Nic, how to face the page again and start afresh and not be haunted by the success of the show you've just done," he said. "But the writing is better than last season. It's exceptional."

Steven Spielberg Developing 'Minority Report' TV Series

The 2002 sci-fi movie "Minority Report" starring Tom Cruise reportedly is coming to the small screen. Steven Spielberg is said spearheading the TV series project by hiring "Godzilla" scribe Max Borenstein to write the script.

Via The Wrap, Spielberg's project is being developed at Amblin Television. The series may focus on the elite PreCrime unit that uses psychics to identify and arrest murderers before they commit their crimes. Spielberg is expected to put a renown actor in the role of the unit's leader, very much like hiring Halle Berry to star in CBS' "Extant".

David Yates may return to the world of "Harry Potter" in the spin-off pic, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". Nothing is set in stone yet but the filmmaker is in active negotiations to direct the planned trilogy for Warner Bros.

Sources told Variety that WB always wanted someone familiar with the franchise. Yates directed four of the eight "Harry Potter" films, particularly the last four crucial installments. Both sides may have to work on the production schedule because Yates is currently busy directing "Tarzan" for the studio through November.

The "Footloose" actress said it was "the right time and the right kind of opportunity" for her to return to the dancing competition. "Dancing with the Stars has always been a part of my family," the blonde beauty explained. "That's where it all began for me, so it just kind of made sense."

Carson Daly and Fiancee Siri Pinter Welcome Baby No. 3

It's a baby girl for Carson Daly and his fiancee Siri Pinter. The couple welcomed their second daughter Wednesday, August 20. She weighed in at 8 lbs. 11 oz., measured 22 inches long and "has the cheeks, too," according to her proud father. They named the bundle of joy London Rose Daly.

"Siri is a warrior and I'm so amazed by her poise, grace and strength during this miraculous process," Carson said on FaceTime live on "Today" show. "Baby and Siri are right here. They're doing very well. It's incredible. We thought this was going to happen on Saturday and it didn't. We went home. It was a long couple days of waiting."
