Lionsgate Working on New Live-Action 'Power Rangers' Movie

Power Rangers are heading back to the big screen for a potential new movie franchise. Lionsgate announces they are collaborating with Saban Brands to develop an original live action feature film based on the six iconic color-coded superheroes.

The new film franchise will re-envision the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world.

Mekhi Phifer Files for Bankruptcy

Mekhi Phifer reportedly is having financial difficulties. According to TMZ, the "ER" alum filed for bankruptcy last month. He apparently only has $67,000 in assets while his debt is totaling around $1.3 million. The $1.3 million debt consists of $1.2 million in back taxes, $50K in lawyers bills and $4,500 in back child support.

According to legal documents obtained by the site, he spends $11,600 in monthly expenses, but his income is $7,500. Meanwhile, some of Phifer's assets include a 12-year-old Segway, a leather bed, one shotgun and two 9mm pistols.

Shortly after dropping his "Irregular Heartbeat", 50 Cent gives the Jadakiss and Kidd Kidd-assisted track a proper music video. Arriving on Vevo on Tuesday, May 6, the three-and-a-half-minute visuals was directed by Eif Rivera.

It opens with 50 and his collaborators walking around an abandoned building while rapping their respective bars. In other scenes, two criminals are seen entering a house and kidnapping a man in front of his family.

Phaedra Parks' Husband Pleads Guilty in Fraud Case

Phaedra Parks' husband Apollo Nida pleaded guilty to mail, wire and bank fraud charges on Tuesday, May 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. The husband of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star was accused of being involved in a scheme which was worth about $2.3 million.

During the court session, Nida said that he accepted "full responsibility for my actions," adding, "It was a dumb situation I put myself in." Nida may face up to 30 years and a $1 million fine. A sentencing hearing for the case is scheduled for July 8.

Already being in development hell for a long time, "The Mummy" remake is facing a roadblock once again. "Mama" director Andy Muschetti was initially tapped to replace Len Wiseman to serve at the helm, but he has cut ties with the project due to creative differences.

When Wiseman was still attached to the remake, it was envisioned to be a darker, scarier take on the "Mummy" mythology. According to The Wrap, Muschetti wanted to take that direction but Universal was keen to make it more family-friendly action adventure.

"Da Vinci's Demons" is here to stay. Starz has officially announced a third season renewal for the historical fantasy drama series from creator David S. Goyer, who won't return as showrunner for the next installment.

T. I. Debuts New Track 'Turn It'

T.I. has debuted a new track called "Turn It". The song finds the rapper reuniting with producer DJ Toomp, a Grammy Award-winning hitmaker whom he worked with for hits like "Got Your Back", "24's" and "Trap Back Jumpin" among others.

A music video for the two musicians' latest collaboration was already shot last month in Atlanta, Georgia, and T.I. has just teased it with a preview. The 46-second clip gives glimpses at the Grand Hustle CEO in a helicopter and a woman. The full visuals will be premiered on Friday, May 9.

Gerard Butler Leaves 'Point Break' Remake

Gerard Butler is no longer attached to "Point Break" remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor leaves the project due to creative differences and scheduling conflict. "Point Break" is expected to go into production in late June, while he is prepping to film "London Has Fallen", the sequel to "Olympus Has Fallen", in fall.

Butler was supposed to play play Bodhi, a charismatic surfer portrayed by the late Patrick Swayze in the original. He was initially set to share screen with Luke Bracey who will portray Utah, a hotshot FBI agent played by Keanu Reeves in the Kathryn Bigelow film. Recasting is expected to be announced soon as they stick to the original start date.

'Club Kid Killer' Michael Alig Released After 17 Years in Prison

A former party promoter named Michael Alig, who was dubbed "club kid killer" by media in the 1990s, was released from Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy, New York on Monday, May 5. He was released after serving 17 years behind bars for killing a man named Andre "Angel" Melendez in 1996.

The newly-freed Alig then took to Twitter to share a photo of him. "Happy to be free and so grateful for this second chance," he wrote. Alig added another snap of his "first burrito of freedom." He also joked about media's attention following his release, tweeting, "W/ all these cams following now I know what [Kim Kardashian] feels like!"

In the previous video, McCarthy is robbing the burger joint with a paper bag mask and a finger gun. This new one shows her taking Susan Sarandon to the drive thru in an attempt to return the money she stole. Her plan is to "just throw the money, and we'll get out of her."

Spike Lee is bringing his "She's Gotta Have It" into the small screen. The director/producer/writer is working on a comedy series, which is based on his 1986 first feature film debut, for Showtime.

According to Deadline, the TV show will be a "contemporary look at the characters and will explore Lee's unique and provocative points of view about race, gender, sexuality, relationships, and the gentrification in Brooklyn." Lee is set to write and attached to direct the reboot project.

Greenberg had an interview with the producer and was treated to a one-minute preview of a song that's set to appear in the album. The track featured verses from Ghostface Killah and what sounded like Cher's vocals. "That voice sound familiar? Yeah, it's a little bit like Cher," Cilvaringz joked, but he refused to confirm or deny the veteran singer's involvement.

Another 'Spring Breakers' Movie Officially in the Works

Wild Bunch has announced plans to bring another "Spring Breakers" scene to Cannes Film Festival. However, the Paris-based production company said it wouldn't be a direct sequel to the Harmony Korine film that starred Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens among others.

"Spring Breakers: The Second Coming" will follow an extreme militant Christian group that tries to convert vacationing co-eds. Gomez and the girls may not appear significantly in the second film but references to the film's original characters will be made. "It's not a direct sequel, although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original," Wild Bunch co-founder Vincent Maraval told Screen Daily.
