Living under the spotlight for 24/7, Hollywood stars always grab our attention even with the smallest things they do. From their glorious moments to tragic events, all made constant headlines in the past year. As 2013 is nearing its end, AceShowbiz returns with its annual Kaleidoscope to look back at some important stories that went to become talk of the town at the time.

A marriage and a split highlight the first month of the year with Crystal Harris and Hugh Hefner tying the knot as Britney Spears and Jason Trawick calling off their engagement. Following tradition, movie awards shows were honoring the best in the past year in early 2013, capped off with the Oscars which was dubbed the most prestigious event in the industry. In March, Justin Timberlake's long-awaited music return became a huge success, scoring one of the biggest first week sales this year.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are going to Aspen for a vacation with their baby daughter. The engaged couple was seen boarding a private jet on Friday, December 27. The rapper was pictured carrying North West in a baby carrier.

The baby girl was born on June 15 this year and has been showered with gifts from top-notch designers like Lanvin, Alexander Wang and Givenchi. For Christmas, she got clothes and shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti, Stella McCarthy and many more.

Anne Hathaway Reportedly Leaves Dog Poop on Paparazzo's Car

Anne Hathaway apparently has found a way to deal with paparazzi who constantly follow her every move. According to new reports, the "Les Miserables" actress has put a plastic bag of her dog's excrement on a paparazzo's car during an outing.

On December 26, Hathaway stepped out to walk her dog and she was followed by at least a cameraman. The star was captured on camera wearing a gray sweater, jeans and sneakers. Her dog Esmeralda was put on leash. Hathaway cleaned up after the dog and was seen holding a plastic bag. The bag, however, later was seen on the windshield of the paparazzo car.

Pitbull to Perform at New Year's Rocking Eve From Miami

Pitbull is the latest artist to join the line-up of performers at this year's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest. The singer will be performing live from Miami's American Airlines Arena during the annual bash which gets underway starting at 08:00 P.M. ET in New York's Times Square.

Billy Joel, who has been announced as the first performer after the ball drops, will appear at the event in a similar manner. The legendary musician will sing one of his classic hits live from his New Year's concert in Brooklyn.

T-Pain has released his remix version of French Montana's "Ain't Worried Bout Nothin' ". In the track, the 28-year-old rapper can be heard spitting some new bars over the beats produced by Rico Love.

T-Pain is featured talking about money, car, Grammys and gun. "So that gun rack got that SK/ And that AK, and I love everyone of them s**ts/ But I got too many goons/ So I ain't gotta shoot none of them s**ts," he raps.

The Strokes' Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. Gets Married

Albert Hammond Jr. is a married man. The Strokes' guitarist tied the knot with his girlfriend Justyna Sroka on December 23. "Mr. & Mrs. Hammond, jr. Yeah...she kept the JR. YES!! Haha she's JHJ I'm AHJ," he tweeted. The newlyweds also showed off their wedding rings on Twitter.

Hammond Jr. met Sroka, a senior operations manager at Juice Press, while she was working at Cafe Gitane in New York City. She was the inspiration behind his song, "St. Justice," taken from his solo album, "AHJ". The track is one of Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Best Songs of the Year.

Despite the hype surrounding Britney Spears' Las Vegas residency, her recently-premiered documentary didn't get the same amount of attention. In fact, "I Am Britney Jean" which debuted on E! Sunday, December 22 tanked in ratings, with only 706,000 viewers watching it.

In the two-hour special, the "Work B**ch!" songstress opened up about her struggle in the show business, admitting that she might not be suitable for the job. "I have always been kind of shy, since I was a little girl. It's who I am to be modest, so I really can't help it. I turn into this different person ... seriously, bipolar disorder," she explained. "I'm not really made for this industry."

Kerry Washington's husband Nnamdi Asomugha has announced that he is retiring from football. The cornerback shared the news on Friday, December 27 during a press conference at the Oakland Raiders' headquarters.

"After 11 seasons in the NFL, I will be retiring today. I've been blessed and fortunate to have a successful NFL career. Another journey is starting for me right now," he said on the podium, as quoted by Us Weekly. "Life happens. You start getting these feelings - it's time. I just felt that it was the right time."

Jet Li is battling hyperthyroidism. The Chinese action movie star reveals his health issue during the taping of a Chinese talent show where he is judging. "I have hyperthyroidism, sometimes I'd lose 15 kilograms, sometimes I'd gain 15 kilograms," he says.

"I'm really fat right now. That's a fact. And I haven't had a chance to slim down, because the medication I am taking controls my heart rate, so I cannot exercise...," he continues. "I'll wait until the doctor says I can do simple exercises before slimming down."

Beyonce's New Album Pirated 240,000 Times in Its First Week

Beyonce Knowles' visual album, "Beyonce", has become a big target of piracy. The 14-song and 17-music video set was illegally downloaded for 240,000 times in its first week. Available for $15.99, the album could have grossed another $3.8 million in sales.

Music data analyst Musicmetric said that as of December 18, Beyonce's entire music catalog was shared more than 2 million times through file sharing site BitTorrent. Around 240,000 of those were shares of her new self-titled album.

'Amityville' Reboot Set for January 2015 Release

"Amityville", a reboot of a horror movie about a haunted house in Amityville, New York, has booked a release date. The movie formerly titled "The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes" is confirmed to haunt theaters in the United States starting January 2, 2015.

Written and directed by Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands, the remake will show the events after the original "Amityville Horror" book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976. Jason Blum (Insidious, "The Purge", "The Conjuring") is on board as producer.

'Little Couple' Star Jen Arnold Shares Hospital Photo During Chemo Treatment

Jen Arnold has shared a photo of her during her treatment to fight cancer. The star of "The Little Couple", who announced recently that she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, has started her chemo treatment as an inpatient and she lost her hair as the result.

"Day2 inpatient chemo- sleeping a lot, liking new anti nausea med this time, & looking to get home today! #GetWellJen," wrote the neonatologist and a mom of two on Twitter. In a photo she attached on the post, Arnold can be seen smiling as she takes the selfie. Medical equipment makes appearance in the background.

GLAAD Warns A and E After Phil Robertson's Suspension Is Lifted

GLAAD has reacted to A&E's decision to lift the ban on "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson. After the network reversed its decision to suspend the reality TV star from the hit show, the advocacy group issued a statement to express its disappointment.

"Phil Robertson should look African American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists," the organization stated. "If dialogue with Phil is not part of next steps then A+E has chosen profits over African American and gay people - especially its employees and viewers."

Meagan Good could play Whitney Houston in biopic. The "Deception" star is linked to the project after telling LA Times in an interview that the biopic was her dream job. She also said that she had been discussing a potential film with the singer before her tragic death.

According to The Wrap, record producer Clive Davis who's also Whitney's close friend will shepherd the project. At one point this year, Tyler Perry even expressed his interest to sit behind the lens should the untitled Whitney Houston biopic come together.

The foundation releases the list annually, putting names of stars who carried out charitable activities throughout the year.

Swift tops this year's list, while One Direction and Beyonce Knowles are in second and third place respectively. This year, Swift donated $100,000 during her 24th birthday to the Nashville Symphony which was hit with financial problems. In November, she joined forces with Prince William and Bon Jovi to perform "Livin' On a Prayer" at the Winter White Gala in London benefitting homeless youth.

Despite showing his love to animal, the Canadian pop star is criticized for failing to set a good example to his fans by purchasing a puppy from a pet store instead of adopting one from a shelter.

Daphna Nachminovitch, PETA's Senior Vice President of Cruelty Investigations, tells Wenn, "Whether or not reports are true that Justin Bieber purchased a puppy from a pet store for $600, PETA wants to remind everyone that when you buy a dog or cat from a pet store or breeder, you sentence an animal in a shelter to death."

But a spokeswoman for Lionsgate, whose subsidiary Summit is the film's sales agent, tells The Hollywood Reporter that Nyong'o's absence had nothing to do with the controversy. "Due to other commitments that prevented her from going, [Nyong'o's] reps let [the Capri festival] know over two weeks ago that she could no longer go," the rep said.

A&E is taking Phil Robertson back after giving him an indefinite suspension over his anti-gay comments on a GQ interview. "Duck Dynasty" will resume filming with the rest of the Robertson family, the network announced on Friday, December 27.

"While Phil's comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the 'coarse language' he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would 'never incite or encourage hate'," the statement read.
