The project's subject matter is said to be very close to Affleck's heart, having pitched it himself, after he has long spoken out over the humanitarian crisis that has been going on in Eastern Congo where armed factions have been warring over mineral-rich land and resources.

'American Idol' Results Show Cut Down to Half an Hour

October 26, 2013 02:36:48 GMT

Beginning on its next season that kicks off of on January 15 and 16, 2014, the results show of long-running TV singing competition show "American Idol" will run for only 30 minutes, cut down by half from the hour-long programming it has enjoyed since it first started airing back in 2002. The changes for the long-running program, now entering its 13th season, were announced by Fox on Friday, October 25, adding that the remaining 30 minutes of the one-hour Thursday time slot will be filled by new comedy TV series "Surviving Jack".

The move seems to be a wise one on the part of the network, since it saw the program's results show go down to as low as 2.6 in the ratings. It's not even as radical as the changes made by another popular TV competition show, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars", which this season totally took down their eliminations show and instead absorbed in into the performance show, taking a cue from a 2012 programming move by "So You Think You Can Dance".
