Elton John Postpones Summer Concert to Undergo Surgery

Elton John is not feeling well and has to take a hiatus from performing. After "a number of exploratory scans and blood tests with his medical team in the UK," the British singer/songwriter was diagnosed with "appendix abscess surrounding retrocaecal appendicitis."

Sir Elton is forced to hold back the remaining dates from his current European tour, including the headline show at Hyde Park in London as part of the Barclaycard British Summer Time Festival this coming Friday, to go under the knife and recover after the surgery.

Nick Lachey hopes for the best for his ex-wife, Jessica Simpson, following the birth of her second child. Speaking to E! News at the NYC launch of Wendy's #PretzelLoveSongs campaign, the member of 98 Degrees said that he had not spoken to Jessica for a while.

"No. We're not in touch. I certainly wish her the best and I would like to think the same on her end, but we don't speak. We haven't spoken in years," he said.

Mac Miller has just dropped a music video for his collaboration with ScHoolBoy Q, "Gee". Directed and produced by IllRoots, the nearly-three-minute video opens with Miller having a bottle of beer while riding his BMX through the suburbs.

The video also sees some close-ups of a praying mantis, some weird mirrored image shots and other visual treats. Miller is then seen sipping his beer on a rooftop while ScHoolBoy is staying in the driveway, sipping his own beer and eating El Pollo Loco.

Andre 3000 may return to music. On Monday, July 8, producer Mike Will Made It took to his Instagram to post a 13-second video of him and the Outkast member in a recording studio. Andre, sporting an overall, is standing next to Mike, who can be heard demanding the camera to be turned off.

Andre hasn't confirmed anything, but fans are hoping some new music from the 38-year-old musician. While he has been featured on songs from the likes of Beyonce Knowles, T.I., and Young Jeezy in recent months, Andre 3000 hasn't recorded his own original material in years.

Halle Berry Stops Personal Item Auction in Canada

A Canadian auction house was forced to postpone a sale of personal items after receiving a cease and desist letter from Halle Berry. The Hollywood Reporter noted that 400 items, including an antique sofa, a queen-sized bed, a zebra skin rug, a hairbrush and nail clippers, were going to be sold at the auction.

The items actually belonged to Berry's former boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, instead of the "X Men: Days of Future Past" actress. The auction, which was scheduled to take place in Montreal on Sunday, was finally postponed.

'X-Men' Scribe David Hayter Set to Pen Adaptation of Luna Brothers' 'The Sword'

"The Sword (2015)" has found its screenwriter. Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features have officially hired scribe David Hayter, whose credits include "X-Men" and "The Scorpion King", to pen the big-screen adaptation of the Luna Brothers' graphic novel of the same name.

The story centers on young paraplegic college student Dara Brighton, who is the only survivor after her father, mother and sister are murdered by three strangers who demand a particular sword. Left in the burning house, she discovers the sword which apparently can give her incredible powers. She later sets out on a journey to take revenge.

Mos Def Undergoes Force-Feeding Demo as Part of Protest

Actor and recording artist Mos Def endures a painful force-feeding to protest against the procedure that is apparently being done on Guantanamo Bay prisoners going on hunger strike. The "Dexter" star underwent the demonstration as part of British human rights organization Reprieve's Stand for Justice aimed at ending the cruel practice at the detention camp.

Def, who was in full prisoner mode, dressed in the bright orange jumpsuit, was strapped to the chair including his head which was also being held down by medical assistants. As the lubricated tube was forced down his nostril going into his stomach, Def tears up and convulses in pain, prompting him to bail out even before the liquid nutrients could be fed to him.

Fan Arrested for Tweeting Alleged Bomb Threat at Pink's Concert

A 16-year-old unnamed fan was arrested by local police after tweeting about having a bomb at Pink's concert at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on Sunday night, July 7. "@Pink I'm ready with my Bomb. Time to blow up #RodLaverArena. B***h," the fan wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

The staff at the venue reportedly recognized the boy from his Twitter profile picture and escorted him out before police arrived and arrested him. The boy has been released but is now facing criminal charges, including public nuisance.

Dr. Stuart Finklestein recounted the incidents that led him to believe that Jackson had an addiction to pain medication back then.

His first suspicion came when Jackson called him into his hotel suite and asked him to administer painkillers for a severe headache he was having, which he ended up addressing with an intravenous morphine drip within 24-hours prior to Jackson's Bangkok, Thailand concert. He was supposed to just give him a shot of Demerol on the buttocks but they were already "so scarred up and abscessed that the needle almost bent."

Neill Blomkamp is eyeing Dev Patel for his next project. The Hollywood Reporter learns that the Jamal Malik depicter in Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" is in talks to take a leading role in "Chappie", the sci-fi feature which is based on Blomkamp's short movie "Tetra Vaal" about a robot police force patrolling the slums of South Africa.

British actor Patel is expected to take on the role of a young man in the impoverished town. If all deals are sealed, the Prince Zuko of M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" will team up with "The A-Team" actor Sharlto Copley who is on board the Media Rights Capital production to play the police robot.

The money will be used to repair or build houses.

Pearl Jam Announces Fall North American Tour

Pearl Jam has announced that they will hit the road for a two-leg, 24-date North American tour this fall. The first leg of the tour is set to kick off at Pittsburgh's Consol Energy Center on October 11 and wrap up in New Orleans on Nov. 3 at the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience.

The second leg, beginning on November 15 at Dallas' American Airlines Arena, will include a stop at Oakland's Oracle Arena. It will mark the band's first public concert in the Bay Area since its headlining slot at Outside Lands in 2009. The band will also take the stages in Phoenix, San Diego and Los Angeles before finishing the tour in their hometown of Seattle on December 6.

Lauryn Hill Begins Serving 3-Month Jail Sentence for Tax Evasion

Grammy-winning singer Lauryn Hill has started serving her 3-month jail sentence for failing to pay $1 million in taxes over the last decade. Ed Ross, a spokesman for the federal Bureau of Prisons, said that Hill checked into federal prison in Danbury.

The Associated Press reported that in the minimum-security prison, Hill would live with other inmates in dormitory-style living quarters. She as well as others will carry out some work, such as maintenance, food service or landscaping. After Hill finishes serving, she will be under parole supervision for a year, the first three months of which will be spent under home confinement.

Country singer Randy Travis is critically ill. Travis' spokesman Kirt Webster said in a statement on Monday, July 8, that the "Diggin Up Bones" singer was admitted to a Texas hospital on Sunday. Webster added that Travis was in critical condition.

The 54-year-old singer was "suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy," Webster said. Viral cardiomyopathy is a deterioration of the heart muscle caused by a viral infection. In some cases, the weakening of the muscle can lead to heart failure.
